Introducing Andrew James Sibiga!

Well, it's been 13 days since our baby boy made his unexpected entrance into our world.  For those who haven't heard how things went down, here is the Reader's Digest version:

On December 30th, Matt and I had reservations at P.F. Chang's for one last date night together before we had a baby.  I had been feeling 'off' that day.  Low and behold, Matt dropped me off at the door at the restaurant and my water broke.  Everything I'd read said that 'your water probably won't be a dramatic gush and happen in a public place like you'd see on tv.'  Well I was obviously the exception to that rule!  We called the hospital and they told us to get something to eat, get a shower, grab our stuff, and come on it.  Once I got there they determined that my water had indeed broken (duh) and they admitted me.  I was 1cm dilated upon our arrival and they said they'd check me in again 4 hours.  Four hours later my contractions were coming extremely strong and regular.  I was hoping to have progressed more so I could get the epidural.  To my dismay, the doctor said I was still only 1cm.  I was so upset, but they said I could still get the epidural, so they sent the anesthesiologist in, and he made me feel SO much better!  The nurse checked me shortly after my epidural and said that the doctor had made a mistake and that I was actually 5-6cm dilated.  That of course made me thrilled.  Matt and I were able to get a couple blinks of sleep in here and there between them coming to check my vitals and the baby's progress.  I was in labor for a total of 14 hours and 4 minutes, and pushed for a little over 3 hours.  It was the most difficult and exhausting thing I've ever done, but finally at 8:50am on December 31st, (New Year's Eve Day!) our baby boy arrived!  The pushing took so long because he was coming out face up instead of face down and he had a difficult time getting underneath my pubic bone.  He came out with a massive cone-shaped head and a giant bruise (both of which have since gone away), but otherwise healthy and happy, at 8lbs 6oz, and 21 inches long.

It was a physically and emotionally overwhelming time for all of us.  We were discharged from the hospital after about 36 hours since we were all doing so well.

Other than a little difficulty breastfeeding, things have been going as well as can be expected.  Matt and I are trying to adjust to our roles as new parents and the lack of sleep, etc.  We are so very grateful to have my parents, Andrew's Grammy & Pappap, here to help us out in the meantime.

He is changing every day and is so darn cute.  He has the most adorable sneezes and the softest skin and hair.  We are in love with our new addition and that love grows with each passing day.  He's a handful, but we're figuring it all slowly but surely.

Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement!

The pictures below are posted with the most recent ones at the top.  :)
