Andrew had his four month checkup today. I think I say this every time, but it's hard to believe that it's been four months since Andrew came into our lives. :) Time has really flown, and all three of us have come a long way since those first couple of weeks!
For the most part, Andrew got a great report! The only minor concern was that he weighed only 13lbs. today, and apparently that is on the low end for his age. He has excessive spit-up issues, which our doctor said was fine (other than a nuisance for us) as long as he wasn't discomforted by it, which he is isn't. I guess this and the fact that he sleeps through the night now and doesn't get up for nightly feedings could contribute to his low weight. Our doctor gave us the green light to start Andrew on 'solid foods', i.e. rice cereal for a few weeks, and then orange and green veggies, and then fruits! Exciting stuff! She said that this would hopefully give his weight a little boost. We will go back in on May 22nd for a weight check. He is now 24 1/2 inches long; his length and head circumference are right on track with what they should be. She was VERY impressed with his improvement with his torticollis. We've been attending physical therapy once a week for a over a month, and doing daily stretches at home with him. She could see a noticeable difference and advised that we could cancel our therapy with the understanding we would continue doing the stretches at home. He also got his second round of vaccines, which again, he took like a champ! Only cried during the 'pinch' and was fine seconds afterwards. :)
Since we are moving at the end of May, and we weren't going to be returning to the doctor until he turns 6 months, I brought my camera in hopes of getting a picture of Andrew and our wonderful pediatrician. We went ahead and did it today, even though we'll be back next month. I thought it came out great and will go in Andrew's baby book.
We're happy that Andrew is doing so well and excited at the prospect of introducing real food to him in the next coming days. Expect pictures and video to follow documenting that milestone! :)
