Andrew's ONE YEAR UPDATE!

How is our little boy getting to be not-so-little anymore?  He has been one year old for 9 days now!  So much to update on this post, so I'm warning you, it might be long!  (Don't worry, a lot of it is pictures!)

If you read my previous post about Matt's birthday, you know that my parents came into town on December 17th to be here for the holidays and Andrew's first birthday.  They could not believe how much he'd grown and changed since the last time they were here in August!  When the arrived and we met them in the driveway and I handed Andrew over to them, he CRIED!  Within a few hours, he had quickly warmed up to them again and we were good to go. 

Before we knew it, it was Christmas... Andrew's First!  I think it was a little overwhelming for him, but he had a good time.  He was super spoiled, and really enjoyed his presents... and the wrapping paper.  :)

Then just a few days later, it was New Years Eve, and more importantly, Andrew's First Birthday!  We had gotten him a little cake for him to smash and of course lots of presents.  I was somewhat disappointed, as the day did not go how I had imagined it would go.  Andrew really could've cared less about opening his gifts (although he loved them once they were open) and the cake smashing was more crying, less smashing.  He just sat with it in front of him and didn't do anything, so we set his hand in the cake and oh, how he cried!!  He did eat a little, but wasn't real into it.

That was right before his nap time, and I thought he might be tired, so we tried it again later that evening and it went better.  Not the smashing I had envisioned, but as long as he was happy, we were happy!!

Overall, ALL of our celebrations went quite well!  Lots of good memories were made.  Thank you to Grammy & Pappap for being here and being a part of it all and helping out out with Andrew.  We are so grateful!!  Can't wait to see you in May!!

We had Andrew's 12-month Well Baby appointment yesterday, and were were thrilled to find out he weighs 21lbs 4oz (25th percentile!!!). For his height, he was 36th percentile, and head circumference, 49th percentile.  He got a good report, and the only bad part was the dreaded 12-month immunizations.  He got FIVE shots, and had blood drawn.  :(  My poor baby.  It really is true what they say that your baby getting shots hurts you more than it hurts them.  He did cry, but he took it like a champ.  We are very proud of him!

He has four teeth now.  Two on the top and two on the bottom.  We are phasing him out of the bottles and into sippy cups.  It was a rough start, but I think we're making progress.  He's eating all sorts of foods now and certainly likes some better than others.  He got several wheeled toys for Christmas/birthday that he can walk behind and push and he LOVES to do that.  Keeps us on our toes chasing him around.  He's not walking on his own yet, but I'm sure that's right around the corner!
