As some of you may know, Matt turned 30 on December 15th. I had been planning a surprise for him since August. I had put together a basket with cards from friends and family, and gifts from me and Andrew, and been hiding it at a neighbor's house. I got Matt out of the house for a birthday dinner. With our friends/neighbor's help as accomplices, they came over while we were out and set up the special cake I ordered, balloons, banner, and video camera. Additionally, they got our good friends Jen & John on Skype (a video chat) on my iPad so they could be virtually "here" for the whole thing.
I made up what I thought was a well-thought-out plot and schedule (a total lie) for the evening, and then "forgot" something at home and had to go back. Matt was on to me, but he was still surprised!!

Thank you to everyone who sent a card, helped me plan and put it into action, and kept it a secret. It was a great success and a wonderful evening! Matt is very grateful for such wonderful friends!!
