Baby Bump Update

I thought I would create a post, since I haven't done one since my last doctor's appointment.  Everything seems to be going well as far as I'm concerned.  I had a checkup last week and I've gained *gasp* 17 lbs so far.  That was a real shocker to me.  YIKES.  The doctor says that isn't too bad, but to make sure I'm exercising a little each day and making healthy choices when I eat.  People have been commenting that I don't look pregnant from the back, and that I don't appear to be getting bigger anywhere other than my bump, so that makes me feel better.  My next appointment is at 28 weeks (I'm 25 now) and I'll have to do some blood work and the dreaded glucose test.  For that, I have to drink a 4oz super sugary drink (apparently tasting like flat orange soda) within 5 minutes, then wait an hour and they will draw blood, and somehow determine if I have gestational diabetes.  (This is a test everyone gets ~ so they aren't specifically concerned that I have it).  Not looking forward to that, but hopefully it won't be too bad.

Our little boy has been squirming around and kicking a LOT lately.  Matt was finally able to feel him kick with his hand on my stomach too.  It's such a bizarre feeling, especially when I can look down at my stomach when he's moving or kicking and see my stomach moving!  With time flying by so quickly and my due date rapidly approaching, I have started to have doubts on if I'm ready for this big life-changing event.  I have NO idea what to do with a baby as a parent, and Matt shares similar fears.  Everyone has been telling me that as a new parents, everybody feels that way, and it will come naturally and you learn as you go.  I stumbled across a perfect bible passage last night that I'm trying to live by:
“She is clothed with strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear
of the future."
-Proverbs 31:25

  1. I'm so excited for you!!! Don't worry about the weight gain. I gained a total of 24lbs while pregnant. It's only five days past delivery and I've lost 16lbs of that! Most of it comes out with the baby. Don't stress about being a new mommy either. I won't lie...it's a little overwhelming at first, especially the lack of sleep - but people are right when they say it comes very natural. Plus you spend a couple days in the hospital with nurses helping you and giving you LOTS of tips! You two will be GREAT!!! :D
